ISTORY OF 222 CLUB The northeast corner of Turk and Hyde Streets was home to the Blackhawk, one of San Francisco's premier jazz clubs of the 1950s and early 60s. The Blackhawk hosted virtually every known jazz musician of the day Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk, and Shelley Manne all cut live albums there. Sadly, the Blackhawk has long since departed this mortal coil . The place where they actually set up the tape recorders for those great albums still stands, the 222 Club. Bay Area Natives -opened the 222 Club 20 years later and are proud of this beautiful establishment that has been created in the TL. In the basement anything can happen, especially when you feel the energy from all of those jazz greats who have blessed it.
